Wardrobes, partition and TV wall in Salempur

Two wardrobes — one hinged, one sliding — an open wooden screen between the kitchen and the dining room, and a fluted TV wall.

How this one came together

Two bedrooms, two different answers. The first takes hinged doors, which open fully and give you the whole opening at once. The second is a slider, because the bed sits close enough that a swinging door would have been a daily annoyance. Both run top boxes to the ceiling rather than leaving the usual dust shelf.

Each one was drawn flat on before it was built, which is the most useful way to look at a wardrobe: you are buying a wall, and a straight elevation is the only view that shows you the real proportions of the doors and the band across them.

Downstairs, an open wooden screen separates the kitchen from the dining room. It keeps the two rooms connected and the light moving, which a solid wall would have stopped, and it puts the shelving where it is actually useful.

Hinged doors in one room, sliders in the other. Top boxes taken to the ceiling throughout.
